The telescoping shaft collapses down small enough to fit in my daypack's side pocket, and the aluminum blade cut through rocky soil way better than I expected. Used it to dig a fire pit on my last trip and it never wobbled once.

Tossed this in my pack for a weekend hike and barely noticed the weight. The aluminum blade cut through small roots fine, and collapsing it down took just a couple seconds.

The telescoping shaft locks tight with a simple twist, so it shrank down to barely anything in my daypack. Blade feels solid enough for real dirt despite how light the whole thing is.
